Storehouse 408 is a unique modern event space housed in a refurbished beer store built in the 1960s. Located in Cambridge, Ontario this event venue has quickly become every designer's dream as it boasts of a beautiful blank canvas with exposed ductwork, brick wall, unobstructed views and large windows that allows endless creative pursuits. Storehouse grants guests with full access to their indoor space and courtyard with a wide modern open-air gas fireplace which is breathtaking all year long. You can book a virtual tour with Storehouse to explore the space for yourself and revel in this modern day beauty.
As discussed in our Wedding Venue series, we encourage you to ask venue managers specific questions that will equip you with adequate information to choose the right venue for your event. We had the amazing opportunity to connect with Amy Jakubaitis, the Owner of Storehouse 408, to discuss 5 questions that every clients needs to ask before booking a wedding venue:
1. ARE THERE ANY DECOR RESTRICTIONS?
What clients love about our space is it's a neutral blank canvas, but already has so many beautiful elements so typically, additional decor is minimal. Clients may choose to use either rectangular or round tables, based on their personal preference. We include white tablecloths as a standard, but client may upgrade if they would like. As for decor, we provide hooks on the walls and ceiling for clients to use as they wish. The only restrictions are the following:
no drilling/nailing/taping into/on the walls
no confetti, rice or faux florals can be thrown (real florals/petals as confetti are ok)
no open flame (candles must be protected)
no fireworks
Otherwise, we love seeing the variety of decor that clients bring into the space!
2. CAN CLIENTS HIRE EXTERNAL VENDORS?
Clients must choose from our three caterers, otherwise can bring any other vendor of their choice. We provide clients with a list of recommended vendors who we have worked with in the past.
3. DO YOU ACCOMMODATE A LIVE BAND OR DJ?
Yes, we can accommodate both. Noise has to fit within ByLaw but otherwise we don't have any specific restrictions.
4. DOES THE VENUE ACCOMMODATE EARLY DROP OFFS & LATE PICKUPS?
Not usually - rentals that the client is arranging have to be delivered within the rental period. Occasionally we can work with the client to arrange for delivery before/after and we deal with this on a case-by-case basis.
5. HOW MANY WEDDINGS DO YOU HAVE IN A DAY?
Just one as the client gets the whole space to themselves.
Huge thanks to Amy for answering all our questions that focused on the experience of the couple, guests and vendors as well as venue accommodations. To prepare for your meeting with Storehouse 408, read our article, "Why You Should Ask These 10 Questions Before Booking Your Wedding Venue" to discover a few more questions you can ask the coordinator.
Let us know in the comments if this Q&A was helpful in your wedding planning process. You can also suggest a few more wedding venues you'd like us to reach out to to conduct another Q&A session.
